The other day I talked about getting nostalgic for ghosts of pop culture past and I guess it's going to be theme for this week because this here is going to be more of the same.
Sort of.
While I miss those things that I listed the other day and while I also miss certain cartoons and sitcoms from the '80s, I really have no desire to see those things revamped. I love them the way they were not the way producers think they should be for a "modern audience."
What really ticks me off is Hollywood's latest trend of revamping, rebooting, and revisiting everything that's every happened in pop culture history.
When I want to watch The Transformers, I want to see Optimus Prime and co. "rolling out" in cheap 2D animation. I don't need or want to see the hard-to-follow, brightly colored, computer generated abominations on the big screen.

Same with GI Joe. I prefer my cup of Joe with a hint of Sgt Slaughter introducing the episode, followed by the same cheap animation, and a "Knowing is half the battle" message at the end. And my Cobra Commander wears a blue hood and is NOT the kid from 3rd Rock From The Sun.

The clip I'm about to link to is the thing that really sent me over the edge. Mr. T is, and forever will be, B. A. Baracus. Not Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson. Mr. T would never get beat up by Rashad Evans. He'd just pity that fool.
The A-Team featuring Rampage as B. A. Baracus is coming out next month and it was one of those movies that we singled out as something we wanted to see.
This clip completely changed my mind. It almost seems like a SNL skit or something. I realize a minute-something clip out of a two hour movie shouldn't determine the quality of the entire film, but, in this case, I think it kinda does.
The A-Team tries to fly a tank.
God.
